Activation of seniors with specific needs in social services institutions

The bachelor thesis "Activation of seniors with specific needs in social services institutions" deals with the current topic associated with age and ageing, respectively, with the increasing number of senior people living in one of the institutions providing residential social services in the Czech Republic. The main aim of the work is focus on the importance and benefits of correctly selected leisure activities for clients of homes for seniors or homes with a special regime. This bachelor thesis focuses mainly on the theme of old age, ageing, quality of life at senior age and on a description of non-pharmacological methods which are used by the social or active workers the most. There is a well known fact that the support of clients of residential social services in their original interests and hobbies connects to their personal satisfaction. A part of the bachelor thesis is an evaluation of structured interviews conducted with workers of social services providers and their clients on the purpose of determining both perspectives on the subject, i.e. the suitability or inadequacy of the used activation non-pharmacological methods, benefits for senior and his satisfied living in the institution, and also the connection with his lifetime story and possibilities to continue dealing with the original interests before joining the social service. The output of the structured interviews is a compliance of both groups of respondents not only on the importance and benefit of leisure activities, but also on their correct choice for seniors, which often comes from his lifetime story and original interests and hobbies.
